You might yearn for a career in construction – except you live in New York, where the industry is less prominent. You might live in Dallas and work in sales – but you’d rather work in manufacturing. So what gives? Why can’t you have the job you love in the city you live in?
Well, sometimes you can. But other times, workers live in cities where jobs aren’t as abundant, or the industries they work in don’t have a lot of open jobs.

To help you out, here are five cities, ranked by most available job openings, sorted by the three top industries and the three most available jobs within that industry, according to CareerBuilder.com data. While there is an overlap in industries and jobs among cities, you’ll notice the difference lies in the salary.
